Portrait of Alice Elleboode, ceramic artist

The artist

Alice Elleboode

“Born in a pot ready for bisque firing”

A ceramic artist, I have been exploring the world of clay since childhood. After studying fine arts and technical training at CNIFOP in Burgundy, I returned to Paris in 2012 and have since devoted myself mainly to ceramic objects.

Today, after many technical explorations and much research into colours and forms, I create wall installations and ornamental sculptures for residential and architectural projects.

Bringing matter into interiors.

Between design, art and craft the line is thin, and shared spaces are dressed in stoneware, porcelain or earthenware. This age-old art of fire has time on its side, and lets me build a lasting bridge between nature and architecture.

Encounters

Knowledge is passed on and shared freely

Ceramics carries, above all, the cultures and history of humankind. Alice travels and discovers the colours and exuberant geometries of traditional Mexican earthenware, the naive figurines of Bahia, the azulejos of Portugal, and the sober, controlled lines of Danish design.

She gathers experience from ceramicists who still inspire her: long firings in Brigitte Pénicaud’s anagama kiln, research into form with Pierre Dutertre, decoration on bisque with Christine Brückner, primitive firings with Christa de Coppet, and pared-back coil-built forms with the Danish ceramicist Hans Peter Hansen.
