Hans Style — Alice Elleboode

Hans Style

My meeting with the Danish artist Hans Peter Hansen gave rise to this collection. Open forms, scalloped rims and slender feet: this series draws on ancient ceramics and on Hans Peter Hansen’s original work. In his Copenhagen studio in 2017, he passed on his know-how and the secrets of his making.

I explore his forms, fragile in appearance yet robust in reality. For this I use iron-rich stonewares fired at 1250°, with a fascinating raw, original character. Using resist work, I create a graphic decoration. My pieces are partially glazed, revealing a mix of textures. In this way I keep a strong link with the clay and with matter in its original state.
